About Us
Who we are
Basically, we are a bunch of
people that ride bikes, party and enjoy our life style. (What more can I
say???). We are a small club that
has a lot of fun, has no interest in internal politics (the club is run by the
members), that likes to do a bit for charity whilst getting out and about.
All bikes are welcome, (who says size matters), along with their riders. We
are affiliated to the BMF and MAG and try to get to one of each of their major
events every year.
What
we do
Ride bikes, drink beer, listen
to music, meet people, raise money and have FUN.
We are into rallies and the each year we try to make it to some new
sites.
The main
charity's we support are:
Bassetlaw District Hospital A&E Pediatric Endowment Fund.
We have an annual run (about March) to raise money for the kiddies fund
to buy things to make their hospital stay a little more bearable.
Riders
for Health. Sponsored by
some motorcycle Grand Prix riders the charity aims to get motorcyclists and
supporting infrastructure to less well off places in the world.
Each year a major event (Day of Champions) is held at Donnington Park
where the proceeds from the event go to the charity.
The day is rounded off by an auction where GP stars donate items for
purchase. We are proud to have been
able to offer our assistance to this event for the past few years.
How
we came to be
The club started up in 2001 as
the Suzuki Owners Club East Midlands (S.O.C.E.M).
However due to some internal wrangling and politics S.O.C.E.M ground to a halt. A few
people carried on meeting at the Lock Tavern in Worksop, trying to keep some
club spirit going. A club was
running but without any name! One
Thursday a group from the Long Riders (Pheasant - Sheffield) came along and
liked what we are about and who we are, so they offered us the use of their club
name. So thanks to their generosity
we now have a club name to be proud of. In
2003 we moved, from the Lock Tavern, to the Sherwood Lodge,
Gringley-on-the-Hill.
